Becoming a Poetica Publishing Author: Chapbooks

What is a Chapbook?

A chapbook is a small collection of poetry (also prose/short stories/essays), generally no more than 40-50 pages, that often centers on a specific theme; it’s typically fully bound, full color cover, format well-suited to smaller print runs. Individual works within the manuscript may have been previously published. Producing a chapbook is an excellent way to give audiences a sampling of your writing.  Publishing a chapbook does not exclude that set of works from inclusion in a larger volume; most publishers of book-length volumes of works will include works previously published in a chapbook.
